Laser hair removal is a safe, effective alternative to plucking, waxing, and shaving unwanted hair anywhere on the body.
HOW DOES LASER HAIR REMOVAL WORK?
A laser delivers high-energy light that targets pigment inside the hair follicle and destroys the follicle, which stops the hair from growing..
The type of laser your certified technician will use depends upon your skin type and hair color. While a single treatment can reduce the thickness and density of hair, 5 to 7 treatments are typically needed to permanently eliminate hair. After we have successfully removed your unwanted hair, you might want to return once or twice yearly to eliminate hair that has grown from newly active follicles.
PREPARATION FOR AND RECOVERING FROM LASER HAIR REMOVAL
For at least 2 weeks before your treatment, we ask that you not bleach or pluck the hair you want removed. If you shave, be sure to leave stubble in the area you would like treated. Avoid tanning and sunburning before your treatment.
After treatment, you should apply a cold compress to help reduce redness and inflammation. To give your hair follicles time to heal properly, you should avoid makeup, moisturizers and creams, perfumes and shaving for 2 to 3 days. For best results, you should not tweeze, pluck, wax, or have electrolysis on the laser-treated area.
Once you have healed, be sure to use a sunscreen with an SPF of 30 whenever you are outside to avoid pigmentation issues. You also can gently exfoliate the treated areas with a loofah sponge or washcloth to help turn over new skin cells and reveal your beautiful, smooth, hair-free skin!
The length of your appointment will depend on how big the body area is that we are treating. Your appointment can be as quick as 15 minutes and as long as an hour.
Laser hair removal will not work on blonde or gray hair, as the laser seeks out the dark color in the hair. We can discuss some alternative treatments for you.
